Big time event in the Baltic

Although this annual race "only" fields about 300 entries, the big boat classes usually include well over 20 yachts from all over the globe. Many V60s, Maxis and large catamarans were there in 2004.

The 500 nautical mile course starts with some inshore sailing up the scenic coast from Sandhamn, Sweden's yachting hub. It then leads out to sea to circumnavigate the island of Gotland with some marks thrown in along the way.

Depending on the weather conditions, this race can be anything from a pleasant cruise to a two day test of endurance and character. For the right group of people it can provide memories and tie bonds that will last a lifetime.
