consists of a string of islands about 200 km. long, lying north of the arctic circle and reaching
out into the Norwegian Sea. These islands form one of the most distinctive and beautiful
areas in the world with majestic naked mountain formations that plummet into the ocean.
There are countless fjords (arms of the sea) and harbors, and many small fishing
hamlets all bathed in the midnight sun during the short and hectic summer season.
Thanks to the Gulf Stream which runs up along the western coast of
Norway, this area, despite its high latitude is blessed with a relatively mild climate.
In the wake of the abundant sea life, sperm whales, minke whales, killer whales and
even dolphins frolic and feed through the islands.
Local fishing boats are practically the only other vessels to be
encountered - you will feel like the sole privileged visitors in these pristine and
exotic surroundings. It's the perfect place to get away from it all. If you need to
stay in touch with the outside world however, rest assured that there is excellent GSM
(cellular phone) coverage throughout.
Bring your family, or invite some friends or associates to an experience
that will simply never be forgotten. Believe it or not, the sun never sets between May 21
and July 27 !
